Ingredients

    • 1 1/2 cups milk
    • 1 tablespoon white vinegar
    • 4 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1/4 cup sugar
    • 1 tablespoon plus 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 1 cup unsalted butter, cut into pieces
    • Sausage Gravy

Directions

  1. Heat the oven to 375°F. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, stir milk and vinegar until blended. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Cut in butter with a fork or a pastry blender until coarse crumbs form. Stir in the milk mixture until moistened (dough will be slightly moist).
  4. On a well floured surface, roll dough to 3/4-inch thickness. Cut with a 3-inch round cookie cutter and arrange 2-inches apart on cookie sheet. Repeat with remaining dough.
  5. Bake 26 to 28 minutes or until lightly browned.
  6. Serve with Sausage Gravy, if desired.
