Although instructions are included with every Proctor Silex product, they’re often not necessary to get started. We design our small kitchen appliances to be plugged in and put right to work.

While some pretty advanced engineering goes into all of our appliances, each one is intuitive and easy to use. Controls are placed where it’s most natural to reach for them, and we include only what’s essential for ideal performance. With roots tracing back to Philadelphia Textile Machinery Company, which was founded in 1885, Proctor & Schwartz Electric Company made its debut in 1920 and revolutionized the American kitchen with its many inventions: the first silent toaster, first electric glass coffeemaker, first cord-attached iron, first toaster oven/broiler, first pop-up toaster/toaster oven, first adjustable automatic iron, first snap-apart line of serviceable kitchen appliances and first see-through steam iron water tank.
In 1960, Proctor & Schwartz Electric Company merged with a manufacturer of irons and coffeemakers, the Silex Company, to offer consumers an even wider selection of small home appliances. The new company was known as the Proctor-Silex Corporation, and to this day we continue to innovate, introduce exciting new products and continually improve our uniquely durable, tried-and-true appliances.
