Whole Wheat Bread For 1.5 lb Breadmaker

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups water
  • 2 Tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 Tablespoons sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons nonfat dry milk
  • 4 teaspoons vital wheat gluten
  • 3 1/2 cups whole-wheat flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons bread machine yeast

Directions

  1. Place all ingredients in the breadmaker pan in order listed.
  2. Choose Cycle 11 for Whole-Grain, 1.5 pound loaf for size of bread and medium for crust color. Press Start. When done, remove bread from breadmaker and carefully remove kneading paddle from bottom of loaf.
  3. Let cool 10 minutes before slicing with a bread knife.
Serves: 12
 
Vital wheat gluten can be found in the baking aisle of your supermarket. It helps bread to rise when using ingredients such as whole grain flours that normally produce very heavy dense breads.
